Hello everyone, we are inviting you to an exciting tour of some of the most interesting tourist destinations in the heart of the scenic Salt Range. For some part of our journey, we shall be traveling comfortably on the motorway M2, while enjoying the green landscape of the Potohar Plateau, whereas the remaining part of the journey will be more exciting. Our first destination is Malot, a small village at the edge of the salt range, overlooking the vast plains of Punjab. Here you will see one of the oldest buildings of Pakistan, a more than a thousand-year-old Hindu temple at Malot. You will find sparkling waters of the Jhelum river 20 km ahead of you. From the height of 900 meters, the view is simply an amazing one that one can only imagine in dreams.
Next, we shall visit an ancient complex of several Hindu temples at Ketas, built around a sacred pond. These temples have an important place in Hindu mythology and are very sacred to them. The pond is believed to be formed by the tears of Lord Shiva, and the place is mentioned in Mahabharata, an epic poem of Hindus, in connection with the Pandava brothers. The tour would provide an exclusive opportunity to visit the closed rooms of the temple which are not open for regular tourists. Other attractions of the place are a haveli of Hari Singh Nalwa, a famous Sikh general of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, and beautiful hills surrounding this sacred place. All temples have been restored and are in good condition. It will be a great chance to learn the ancient history of this land and the close association of Ketas with the history of the Hindu religion. The natural beauty of the whole valley is a treat to your eyes. The final destination would be the beautiful lake city of Kallar Kahar, its lush green gardens and beautiful peacocks welcoming you to relax and enjoy its beauty. You will also have a chance to sit on the throne of the first Mughal emperor Babur, who visited this place and mentioned its beauty in his autobiography Tuzk-e-Babri. Don’t forget to bring your camera to save and share memories.
